My recommendation is to do Aruba

It is set up strictly for American tourism. They have "American" 60 Hz, 115V AC power, and use $US in their tourist areas (including the cabs).

I stayed in a hotel on the west side of the island the first time, then stayed in a downtown hotel the second. I liked the latter choice because it had a boat shuttle to it's private island that left from the lobby of the hotel, but it was situated in the downtown tourist section. You could walk to bars, restaurants and shops.

If I go back, will stay in that hotel (again).
